
Jan began his chef training at a Michelin star restaurant in Dannenfeld, Braunschweig. He’s now one of only 10 Michelin-star chefs in Germany. Jan is known for celebrating the best regional products, fantastic craftsmanship and combining atypical flavours while modernising traditional German dishes and respecting sustainability, as well as animal welfare.
In 2014 Jan got his first position as chef de cuisine at Restaurant ATELIER in Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich. One year later, the restaurant was awarded two Michelin stars, which became three by 2017.
In 2022, Jan opened his own restaurant in the Kunstareal Munic where, after just over five months, he was awarded three Michelin stars once again. He is not only one of the most successful chefs in Germany but also an author of a manual with 14 personal formulas for success (published in September 2021). He has also been part of several TV shows and podcasts.
