About the chef
Rui Paula is an indispensable reference for modern cuisine in Portugal.
Situated at the heart of the Douro Valley, his first restaurant DOC has been awarded several prizes for its wine list, including the ‘Best of Wine Tourism’ award. Following the opening of his second restaurant, DOP, at the Palácio das Artes in Porto in 2010, he has been working on numerous ambitious projects. Between 2011 and 2016 he was chef at the Vidago Palace Hotel, considered one of the most luxurious and historical hotels in Portugal.
He has been awarded numerous prizes, including a first Michelin Star in 2017 for DOP and 2 further Michelin stars in 2019 for his restaurant Casa de Chá da Boa Nova.
